  1. Drink more water, drinking water is very important in weight loss.
  2. Get your diet in control. One of the biggest factors in weight loss is diet, so make sure you have it in control.
  3. Take pictures to judge progress. There is nothing more motivating than seeing the changes in your appearance over time.
  4. Keep a journal or log. I find that it is very motivating to have my workouts and diet tracks so I know exactly what is going on.
  5. Stay active. Leading an active life style will increase the amount of energy you burn on daily basis and can help lead to weight loss
  6. Let other people know you were trying to lose weight. That way your family and friends know not to temp you with food that might ruin your diet! And if they still do then they aren’t very good friends
  7. Find a training partner. I really enjoying having someone to workout with to motivate me, both people benefit from it.  It is also nice to have a little bit of a competition to increase motivation even further.
  8. Set Achievable goals. It’s very disappointing when you don’t reach the goals that you are aiming for. Set yourself up for success by setting goals that should be fairly easy to achieve. We are not looking to change overnight.
  9. Avoid wasting time on supplements. There is nothing that can replace diet and hardwork. If you have your diet and your training inline, there is not much else to do but keep busting your butt and giving it time.
  10. Try not to make drastic changes often. It’s important to get into the rhythm of your workout. Try not to change your routine or diet too often.
  11. Have a long term goal in mind. I find that it is motivating having a long term goal in mind. This way I know what I will be doing next in my fitness goals. It’s important to know where you are going, as well as where you’ve come from. Tracking your progress is imperative.
  12. Lift Weights. It’s important to keep lifting weights when you are trying to lose weight. You need to give your body a reason to try to hold on to the muscle it already has. The worst thing that could happen is that you lose muscle while trying to lose fat.
  13. Get plenty of sleep. Sleep is essential for everything, and even more so when trying to lose weight. You are already getting reduced nutrients from your diet so it’s important to get proper rest.
  14. Fish oils. Supplementing fish oil or any other essential fatty acid will aid in some fat loss and over all health. These supplements are usually very cheap.
  15. Don’t get caught up on slip ups. You have to realize that one day does not make that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. If you eat bad one day, you will be fine as long as you return to your proper eating habits.
  16. Cheat days. It’s important every now and then to take a break from your diet. This will not only refeed your body but it will give you a mental break from the limited food. I take a day off from my diet around every two weeks.
